Thank you for making my Open Studio a Big Success

Thank you to all who attended my Open Studio event which took place on Saturday, October 20th, 2007. I am still recovering from the huge party. It was a wonderful event, attended by friends and family and art lovers. I worked non stop for about one month before the event, as this was my first Open Studio, and I feel that my work paid off. I was able to create 6 new pieces during this month in preparation for the opening, which is a record for me. For the first time ever, I was able to put up all of my work up in the order that best told my story, that is, from my own voice. Usually when I am displaying my art I have to work within the constraints of the curator, or the theme of the show. But this time I had no such rules and I freely was able to narrate the story I wanted to share. It really touched me to see my family interact with my pieces, to ask me questions. Overall, the event was a success and a big thank you to all that assisted me, to my parents for going above and beyond, to my mother for always pushing me to excellence, and to my friends who gave me the emotional support to get through the obstacles in making this happen.
