These images are from a workshop I facilitated at the Mexican Museum of San Francisco. The workshop was titled, "Create Your Own Nicho." Sunday, November 13, 2:30-4:30 p.m. DECRIPTION OF WORKSHOP:"Multimedia artist Favianna Rodriguez will present a slide show and hands-on workshop about nichos, a Latin American craft traditionally used to protect special treasures, religious figures or pictures of loved ones. Typically these small boxes – similar to miniature altars – are highly decorated and reflective of the individual creator. The Museum will supply a selection of decorative materials, objects and images; we also encourage participants to bring other special objects to create a personalized nicho. All ages are welcome!"
