A close up photo of the middle portion of the mural. The main figure is Pachacutec, one of the Incas. The term Inca was given to the divine leader of the Inca (Quechua) people. Pachacutec was perhaps one of the most powerful Incas, a great urban planner. It was he that redeveloped the entire city of Cuzco, reorganizing the city with magnificent structures that would awe the Spanish invaders 100 years later. Below Pachacutec we see a representation of his urban plans for the city of Cuzco. Pachacutec's success helped reinvigor a Quechua identity, and tribes that had been lost previously became realigned with the empire. The growing city was able to accomodate a growing population. Pachacutec's rule lasted from 1438 to 1471. The shield at the upper part is the shield of Cuzco. On the right, we begin to see the celebration of the Intiraymi
