Avenida del Sol, Cuzco, Peru

November 07, 2005

This photo is a continuation of the previous shot. The building of the city continues, specifially, they are building Saqsaywaman and Ollantaytampu. Notice on the left a woman with her telar. It is important to note that one of the objects most valued in Inca life was not gold nor silver nor precious metals, but weavings (known as telares). On the top right you see the puma, a sacred animal to the Inca (Quechua) and also a guide to how they built and connected their cities... in the shape of a puma. On the top right we see an indio praying to the sun. The gods of the Incas were the sun...referred to as the "Inti", the moon, the water, the earth...referred to as "Pachamama".
