I'm in two shows from now through the Summer.
"Labor+a-r-t+orio" at the Richmond Art Center
Curated by one of my former UC Berkeley instructors, Laura Perez, this exhibition brings together artists from the late fifties through the present to engage notions of labor, art, and possibilities of speech/song. The Bay Area has long been, and continues to be a laboratorio/laboratory for Latina/o artists from many communities, alongside the historic Chicana/o or Mexican American, to share and transform ideas from each other and from the myriad cultures of the area.
Some of my favorite fellow artists and mentors are included - Juan Fuentes, Amalia Mesa-Bains, Ester Hernandez, Juana Alicia, Consuelo Jimenez-Underwood, Celia Herrera-Rodriguez, Maya Gonzalez, Eugene Rodriguez, John Jota Leanos, Rio Yanez, Favianna Rodriguez, Melanie Cervantes, Jesus Barraza, and more...
