The last month has been an intense and busy month for me. I got a bad flu, traveled to Montreal, created more than 15 pieces of new work, tried out new art techniques, prepared for a show, worked on a graphic novel, and most importantly, kept with my tradition of developing an International Women's Day poster.

I just completed this year's poster, commissioned by Public Services International, in celebration of women workers around the world. They released the poster in various languages, and declared:
We recognize and applaud the work of women trade unionists, who are always at the very heart of our struggle for human and labour rights and equality. We express our solidarity with our sisters who place themselves on the front line, delivering vital public services to the most vulnerable in our communities. We call on governments to recognize their contribution and to guarantee, respect and strengthen their human and trade union rights.
Progress on gender equality is being rolled back. All the evidence shows that public services – where women form the majority of the workforce, are key to promote and achieve gender quality. And now these services are under threat.
The image shows an Arab woman on the left, standing alongside an American woman on the right. This piece started out as a drawing. I then cut the outlines on rubylith film and resized the proportions so that the two fit nicely in the poster. (see images below)
